In this interview, Julie Ferman talks about how to dress for a first date. Many women are unsure of how to dress for a first date, but Ms. Ferman says what’s most important is to feel pretty and confident.
Your Shoes are Important
It’s not a good idea to show up to your first date in five inch heels, especially if it’s a casual coffee date. You never know how tall your date is going to be and he may feel uncomfortable if you’re towering over him. You also don’t know how much walking you’re going to end up doing and you don’t want to look ridiculous. Furthermore, men have complained about the ridiculous shoes women are wearing these days, so it’s okay to tone it down a little for the first date!
Consider the Occasion
It may be tempting to put on a sexy cocktail dress to impress on your first date, but if it’s at a casual coffee shop you’re just going to look ridiculous. You’re probably going to make your date uncomfortable as well. When you are dressing for your first date, consider what you are going to be doing and dress appropriately.
Don’t be too Revealing
If you dress overly sexy on a first date you may end up giving him the wrong impression. You don’t want to come across as easy or sleazy. What’s more important is that your outfit is flattering and you feel pretty, comfortable and confident in it. You don’t have to run out and buy something new, you can pull something old out of your closet you haven’t worn in ages as long as you feel good about yourself in it.
First impressions count and if you show up on a first date in five inch heels and a low cut top you probably aren’t going to make the best first impression. Consider the occasion and where the date is going to be when choosing an outfit. More importantly make sure you feel pretty in what you’re wearing, because you are going to make your best impression when you are feeling confident.
